Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is a challenging neurological disorder to diagnose. This autoimmune disorder presents with varying levels of symptoms among patients and can significantly impair their motor and sensory functions, especially if left untreated.1,2
In some cases, patients may respond to treatment and achieve stability, but they remain short of achieving desired functions. Ongoing research is focused on better understanding disease mechanisms, improving long‑term disease control, and exploring strategies to prevent progression and secondary axonal injury.3-5
Discover more about this complex demyelinating peripheral polyneuropathy.
Although CIDP is a rare autoimmune disorder, it may be more prevalent than previously estimated.6
CIDP presents differently among patients, making it difficult to diagnose. What HCPs may not see between visits is critical—disability can progress silently. Unfortunately, when CIDP goes undiagnosed, that unseen burden on patients continues to grow.1,7-9
Current treatment options are helping some patients achieve clinical improvement. However, clinical unmet needs still exist.3,10,11
CIDP is complex and not fully understood, and research continues to explore the pathobiology behind the disease.1-3 If we can better understand the way CIDP works, can we help address the unmet needs of patients?
